Location Examples
Not sure where to start? Need some inspiration? I’ve compiled a list of locations around the Kansas City Area! You can use this list to get inspired, plan your session stops, and get ideas for your perfect photo shoot with me! Not pictured here are the personal spots that you may opt for, such as the bar you met at, your own house, or specific special spot that may be meaningful to you! I’m down for ANYTHING and can’t wait to help you plan!
PLAZA AREA SPOTS
Country Club Plaza & Brush Creek
Nelson Atkins Museum of Art
Anita B. Gorman Nature Area
(1 Block from Nelson Atkins)
This area is beautiful year-round and offers 3 very distinct “seasonal” looks. Spring and Summer are green with plenty of wildflowers and tall grass. Fall will be more golden, with the tall grass turning yellow. Winter the tall grass will be yellow/ivory color.
Loose Park
Now requires advance booking for photo permits, subject to availability.
Loose Park is popular for a reason! Water features, a rose garden, open green spaces full of old trees. I will cover the permit, but we’ll just need enough notice to get one - about 2 weeks. Weekends the park can be extremely busy and we’ll need to allow plenty of time to accomodate large wedding parties/groups.
Downtown Kansas City Area & Vicinity
Liberty Memorial
Westin Hotel Sport Deck
Union Station / Kessler & Pershing
Crossroads Arts District / Kauffman Center
Valentine Neighborhood / Broadway & Armour Blvd
(not available during their regular business hours)
Pendleton Heights (Just 5 minutes north east of downtown - A Good Plan B Rainy Day Spot)
Barney Allis Plaza - Downtown
Library District - Downtown 10th & Main
Historic Downtown - 11th & Central
Outer Suburbs
These areas are a little further from any Plaza/Downtown/Crossroads locations, so it’s recommended to keep your location areas down to a total of 2 if you’re wanting to have photos in locations that are further apart from each other.
Verona Park - Mission Hills
Shawnee Mission Lake
Burr Oak Wood Nature Center (not RECOMMENDED for weekends)
This park is a bit of a drive and can get extremely busy with other photographers. We will need at least 1 hour here to allow for possible wait times. Permits may be required and it is sometimes closed during certain hunting seasons.
